It doesn't matter what you've been drinking - beer, wine coolers, and liquor all contain alcohol. So alcohol's not only a depressant, it's depressing! 3. What can you do to make sure it's not a killer summer? First, the obvious, don't drink alcohol. Despite the fact that the alcohol industry spends $2 billion each year trying to convince you how cool it is to drink you don't need alcohol to have a good time with your friends or family. Second, if a friend decides to drink and drive, tell him or her that because they're your friend, you don't want to see them or anyone else hurt or worse. Take their car keys if you can. Third, don't get in a car driven by someone who's been drinking. Ride with someone who hasn't been drinking or call your parents to pick you up. (You can't die of embarrassment but you can die of neck and head injuries, etc., (see #1) You can even sign a contract with your parents promising to call them or another responsible adult at any time. Your parents promise to give you a ride home from any place at any time you ask for one. 4. Which summer is the best summer? Simple. The best summer is the one that you live to remember with friends and family. Fact - - Adolescents in Rhode Island drink more alcohol than their peers across the nation. Fact - - Two thirds (67%) of 7th graders and 33% of 12th graders did not consume some kind of alcoholic beverage. .
