To search for e-mail addresses using a web browser, you may prefer to use a different service also located at MIT, the Usenet Addresses Service. This service provides access to all of the same whois servers as here on sipb.mit.edu, and also has links to over 2000 other local directories that are based on protocols other than whois. In addition, as its name suggests, it has a collection of addresses obtained from Usenet postings. Currently, there are over 4 million e-mail addresses, and they are searchable by the person's name and by organization.
This new service is available only with web browsers, e.g., Lynx, Microsoft Internet Explorer, or Netscape Navigator. There is no way to access it using software that is designed solely for Gopher.
