Ask Candid Candice a question about Moo Canada:
What is WinSock?
"winsock" is short for Windows Socket. It's a piece of software that allows
Windows 3.1 applications to access packet-oriented networks like the
Internet. If, for example, you want to run Netscape out of Windows 3.1, you
need to use winsock or something similar. Basically, winsock will act as a
translator, converting packets into something that can be understood by your
Windows software and vice-versa.
Windows 95 & 98 has no need for winsock since it has networking functionality
built-in.
