The Norton Commander is a TUI (Textual User Interface) File Manager.  
It only supports the standard DOS 8.3 file format.  You can configure 
the Norton Commander to launch support programs when you double-click 
on a designated file extension (the configuration file is named NC.EXT). 
You can also create a menu of commonly used programs for quick access 
(the configuration file is named NC.MNU).  

Due to its small memory footprint, many people use the Norton Commander 
as their "eyes", and keep it running at all times.
