Happy Holidays! Well I have been very busy but managed to get a few things done here as well. Rhett "jonzy" Jones returned my call with an email and I was delighted to get his advice and insight. Some things I had expected were confirmed and what I thought might or might not work were also confirmed or corrected. It was a real pleasure emailing with him, he truely wrote Jughead in a way that is easy to follow, which is a huge plus for me. As a result my Jughead Muti Site search is running faster and more lean with plenty of room to spare with the limited hardware on that box. I have only one problem right now and that's over at SDF, I have sent them an email to help me better understand the file structure that is giving me problems. I hope they have time to help me with _my_ problem, I hate having them only partially retrieved in the data harvest. After the 1st of the year I will start in earnest working on that problem again. Also I am looking at making Jughead a FreeBSD port (Thanks jonzy!). I heard from beaker at Simple Minds! He will have his server back up soon, I am looking forward to his site being back up :) Under /Links/Telnet I have added: The ascii version of the movie Starwars from towel.blinkenlights.com A link to the Hal3000 Talker. A link to the Hal3000 MUD Black Knights Trilogy. And soon I will add a menu'ed shell which will begin with just lynx, ping, the talker and MUD. I am considering having it user/pass'ed something like guest guest and have been testing it but may have found a problem where ctrl + z dropped back to prompt. My thoughts behind it were that if a user was say in a place where using a browser was monitored, often telnet is not :) Also it would give people who have not used a text browser a place to see it. Further on slow connections lynx is a very nice browser to use. Ping and or traceroute is great to be able to use from a box not along the same route as you are, I use freeshell once in a while for just that. I just would like to be using my resources for something useful, either fun or constructive or valuable in some way. Well, hope everyone has a very happy holiday season! Chris
