Wow been awhile since I have phloged! Lets see what's new ... The Hal3000
jughead gopher search has been updated a few time, a couple webcam images
from the arctic have been added since its no longer dark there all the time.
I have trimed up a few scripts and solved the timing issues on fetches by
stringing them together and using && instead of fetching and then in a later
operation grepping them. Such as :
/usrlocal/bin/lynx -nolist -dump (url) > (path/to/dumped.txt) && 
/usr/bin/grep -A (number of lines) (name to seek) (path/to/dumped.txt) >
(path/to/greped.txt) && do the second part again and so on.
Before I lynx -dumped and in a later crontab line grepped the previously
dumped txt, by using && and stringing it all together , if there is a failure
you dont grep a blank file you just dont do anything. I had been having timing
and failure issues before, seems better now. I have also helped a friend with 
a new web site http://www.coupon1st.com looks ok I think , just needs the 
buisness end done now and I am not really doing that part. Played a bit with
automating some image stuff at the cottage for a web cam up there. I think
I need to make a remote operated fishing rod next :) I sadly junked some more
computers and printers I hate destroying old equiptment but I cant keep it
all and no one wants it... man is that wierd to me but then again I am getting
old I guess, used to be things weren't worthless before they gained value as
collectible or antique, they might be worth less but not worthless, everything
is throw away stuff these days... to bad. Speaking of worthless, I have a 1986
Suburban and the body decided to rot away quickly after I put a new motor and
transmision in it. About this same time I began to price 4 wheelers atvs. Holy
smokes do they get the $$$ for them now! Well a bit of thinking about where I
would be driving and I realized all the atv trails by my cottage are multi-use
anyhow (snowmobile, atv, auto) and that in reality there are few places you can
do anything but walk between the trees in the woods, so I decided to heck with
a new 4wheeler, couldn't carry my jon boat on one anyhow. I used up all my
extra sheet metal (holes big enough to jump through) and a bit of mud and 
sandable primer as well as some flat olive drab paint and I now have a "real"
woods truck. Finished it off with an interesting tire alternative. Mud tires
can be expensive and being a tight wad my intent was to finish off the truck
for its intended use for as little extra cash as possible. I found some
skid steer (bobcat) tires new for $95 each they fit on the old style 16.5"
rims which I got dirt cheap and painted up. The bobcat tires are not for
highway use but thats fine I have my old set of tires and rims to drive it
up there on. It really is kinda neat and looks quite ..mmm "hick" :)
I feel it will work well as planed and will be tough 'nuff, easy to maintain
paint-wise. I will post a few pics when I take them.
Been listening to Henry Rollins, Black Flag (before and durring Rollins)
Jerry Only (Misfits), Ramones ,wild good stuff. I usually listen to
Ramstein, Slipknot, Kitty, Drain STH, Jack of Jill, Type O- , Hatebreed
and stuff like that...wife says I'm nuts <shrugs> yea a hick/punk/thrash/
heavy metal/huntin/fishin/BSD-nerd/anti-m$/republican/NRA backing/gardening/
home-brewin-but-rarely-drinkin/fool lol guy has to have hobbies.
The way I see it old punks don't die they just become republicans , people
think thats a wierd thing to say but I never thought of punks as anarchists
who wished for true total anarchistick (sp?) destruction, but instead as a
rebeliion against over control of the government and "the machine". To me
it was always about anarchism in the sense of minimal to no government
each person doing as they wish without pressing their wishes and rules
upon another. Hunting for instance, I wouldn't dream of forcing someone
to hunt but would gladly help them with that pursuit. Why then should
an anti-hunter wish to stop me? Does that anti-hunter eat meat? If so
I wont listen to their argument, its b.s. . If the anti is a vegitarian
then that is their argument and I disagree based on the fact that I am
a meat eater and always will be, but thanks for the input...thats how
it should be , but to try and force me to comply with someone elses
ideals...no. To me that is basic in the Republican ideals...it is
a point of contention when many Republicans take issue upon religious
lines and on things such as abortion. trust me I value all opinions
and say to everyone , voice them use reason be sensible and state
facts but when push comes to shove don't legislate one persons or groups
ideals across a nation. Anyhow thats just my opinion. Evil Bill and the
M$ empire are whores...I wouldn't mind them though , honest, they could
do their thing and carry on as they wished, but, this proprietary crap
just needs to end, man every time I want to see a video lately it seems
they just stick their little fingers in the way, putting hosting companies
in their back pockets and such...man just put the friggin video there in
whatever format you want and I am sure I can find a way to view it. And
Office, Publisher, all the rest man thats really crap. I have started to
email news agencies about using proprietary video, equating it to selling
a newspaper encoded and having another company sell the "secret decoder
ring" apealling to free exchange of information and their stewardship.
It has gotten me nowhere. That is depressing. One a bright note...
How about Burt Rutan??!! they made it into space with spaceship one!
Very very very well done! Now that is cutting through the burocratic
crap and getting a job done for a reasonable amount of money. 
Capitalism done right in my book even if one of bills old buddies financed
it ;) Anyhow I have phlogged it enough for one day. Hope everyone in
gopher-land is well, btw take no offense to what I write it is only
how I feel and I am always open to critisisms and new ideas.
