Actually Mystic has this functionality which people may have overlooked with 
their muscle memory.
When you hit R to reply to a message you get this show up (in mystic)

 ° Message Reply

    Area: TQW: Suggestions Box
      To: Satchmo
 Subject: Limiting bot posts?

Reply area (ENTER) Current, (B)ase, (E)mail, (Q)uit? 

If you press ENTER it just replies in the current base, but you can choose the 
base to reply in with `B`
