Subj : Limiting bot posts? To : All From : poindexter FORTRAN Date : Thu Jul 25 2024 17:29:18 I was thinking it might be a good idea to reduce the number of automated postings here? Looking at my BBS with a little over a year of messages: Sub # Name # Posts Latest date & time 1 BBS Adverts 1476 2024-07-25 14:59:36 2 Docker Chat 60 2024-06-11 19:33:25 3 General BBS Chat 93 2024-04-15 13:23:04 4 General Chat 354 2024-07-22 16:49:22 * 5 Tech Discussions 8466 2024-07-25 16:15:05 6 General Science News 1779 2024-07-25 11:17:33 7 Linux 769 2024-07-25 09:30:05 8 Mac OS X 14 2024-05-20 06:35:51 9 MBSE BBS Chat 6 2024-05-25 17:03:46 10 Mystic BBS Chat 68 2024-06-10 17:36:11 11 Mystic BBS Development 9 2024-07-25 15:55:18 12 Python General Chat 9 2024-07-24 15:38:22 13 Raspberry Pi 57 2024-07-06 17:16:58 14 roBOT output 1212 2024-06-08 06:31:29 15 Suggestions Box 0 1969-12-31 16:00:00 16 Synchronet BBS Chat 31 2023-10-23 19:10:01 17 Test Echo 308 2024-07-06 07:06:01 It's easy to see which echoes have automated postings of web news articles and which ones don't. It makes it hard, IMO, to sort out the conversations from the automated posts (that lead you off of the echoes and less likely to reply) Tech Discussions is an echo where I'd like to see some conversations going on, but any human replies would be drowned out by the automated postings. Just a thought... --pF --- SBBSecho 3.20-Win32 * Origin: realitycheckBBS.org -- information is power. (1337:3/178) .
