THE STRONGEST X-FLARE OF THE SPACE AGE: Exactly 22 years ago today, the sun
unleashed the most powerful X-ray solar flare of the Space Age--an X45-class
monster that narrowly missed Earth. The blast occurred on the downslope of
Solar Cycle 23. Coincidentally, that's where we are again in 2025.
