yes, there is an active demoscene out there that is not mirrored in the FTNs of the BBSes. at least in those FTNs i am a member of. So i think it is a good idea to share the news about those parties and their releases ait more (and even discuss when there is something to discuss about those events /releases). 
And there are many around the world. At least in the summer i guess =)
Since a part of those demo parties is also about preservation of the retro tech and 8bit demos etc, i feel that we, running our retro BBSes, are a part of that. So we should support the demoscene a bit more.

btw. why not create BBS ads in demo form? =)

Furthermore it can be kind of fun to have a watch party in MRC chat etc when they have live streams from the party events.
