This has been going on there for a long time. They really hate the
religious gear and facial coverings that many Muslims wear and have
been trying to find a way to make it illegal.

It appeared a couple of years ago that they could only manage that
by generalizing about not wearing Any religious symbols and the
thing about crosses and other Christian items was just an unfortunate
side affect of the general terms of that law.

About 65% of worshippers in Quebec are Christian with Roman Catholics
making up about 54% of all worshippers there.

A very high percentage of the population are religious there, much
higher than most other provinces.
