Subj : Driving a Coach To : All From : Mike Dippel Date : Sat Apr 27 2024 20:13:10 This may seem like a weird post but, here it goes. While driving several hours in my motorhome, I was thinking of the most comfortable way to drive the rig. For any coach whos driver seat has armrests that fold up, here is my take: raise the right armrest only and rest your right elbow on your lap. This will force you to hold the steering wheel at about 4:00. For your left hand, rest your arm on the armrest which forces you to grab the wheel at about 11:00 I tried placing both hands at 11:00 and 1:00 but you don't have the same control over the wheel as you do the other way. Years ago my wife and I attended a drivers class to familiarize ourselves with the best techniques. The driver is the pilot and the passenger is called the nagivator. It's their job to properly nag you while giving directions. One student said that he couldn't keep the coach centered in the lane. He was probably placing his hands in the wrong position, and he was probably looking at the road directly in front of him and not looking too far forward as he should. Anyway, my advice is to place your hands in the proper position with the right armrest up and left one down. And, look forward far enough ahead to allow you to not make too many corrections which you might do when looking just a bit ahead and making too many corrections of your position along the ay. Hope this makes sense. Mike Dippel --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v7.0 * Origin: The Hobby Line! BBS - hobbylinebbs.com (954:895/1) .
