I've heard a lot of people complain about disc rot, and I've had the thought that maybe they aren't storing their media very well. You have to take care of your stuff.. I've always tended to keep my optical discs in places that are not too hot and never in direct sunlight - not really because I've specifically thought about that, but I've always tended to keep them either on shelves (which are usually inside the house and away from windows) or packed in a closet (which is fairly dark most of the time).
