It all depends on how well you keep your media. If you store it in a dust free area, away from direct sunlight, and within house temperature, optical media lasts ages.

The exception seems to be chinesse crap media. Some data I recorded on chinesse CDs back in the day is gone because the CDs returned to blank state 15 years later lol.
