One comment I have about that is that 'straight representation' is a product of its time... majority rules... most people where straight in their eyes generally speaking.. media is going to cater. Media has finally woken up to the idea that 'well shit, there are other people in the world' and are looking for growth into markets. Sure.. its great to have representation but the obvious pairing off for really no reason seemed to pander rather then represent. Seriously.. it was everywhere even in straight representing relationships. Startrek was always about fostering in advanced beliefs... inclusivity... it was subtle. The stupidity of todays world was looked back on as barbarism but not dwelled upon. If they wanted to address an issue, they did it in an episode, not the whole f'n series.
