RARE SOUTH PACIFIC AURORAS: Last week, for the first time in recorded history, 
sky watchers on the South Pacific island of New Caledonia saw naked-eye 
auroras. Their latitude confirms May 10th was a "Great Storm" and one of the 
most widespread auroral displays of the past 500 years.
