EARTH MAY HAVE BEEN HIT BY AN INTERSTELLAR CLOUD: A paper published today in 
Nature Astronomy argues that an interstellar cloud of gas hit the Solar System 
3 million years ago. The impact collapsed the heliosphere, directly exposing 
Earth to galactic cosmic rays, dust and hydrogen.
