It depends on what you are interested about. I think FUSION has lot of ZX Spectrum content, ZZAP! has Amiga content, and Retro Gamer has lots of retrospective content regarding retro games anr retro platoforms. Retro Gamer is a bit too commercial, the others feel like they try to be magazines like those back in the day.

And yes, there is a lot of work done on retro technology by new people, they actually have stuff to write about.
