Subj : Gingerbug To : All From : n2qfd Date : Sun May 19 2024 09:50:58 Hello All, I've just started a gingerbug here, (19MAY24). I'm used to making kvas but never my own starter culture. Typical for kvas I use a bread or when I get it beer yeast. So, today I'm trying to get a culture going from ginger root. (350ml) 1-1/2c water (14g) 1 tbsp grated whole ginger root (14g) 1 tbsp sugar I've read to repeat adding and stirring the ginger and sugar 5 days and see what I get. I'd be more apt to just keep making kvas but I can't seem to get the bread I want. Folks out here are as wonder-bread as they come. If you want darker it's a specialty loaf with the price tag to be expected and doesn't end up on the old racks with the other near stale goods.
