For those who run a direct network, it would be nice to have an option to have sbbsecho not create .msg files for messages in a packet destined for a foreign address.

If I'm understanding the code correctly, if a message for a "foreign" address is in a packet, a .msg file is created for it, which gets routed and packed in the next outbound run. While I certainly want locally generated .msg files packed and sent, I don't want to forward received netmail messages if possible.
