I created a new account on your BBS at ricksbbs.synchro.net and entered MRC. I've been mostly idle but occasionally chatting in the lobby for over 2 hours now, and the board is still up. Can see others in the lobby chatting away.

So... looks like it's running fine?

I'm thinking something else entirely is leading to the crashes. Seems doubtful that MRC has anything to do with it at all, based on my own observations sitting in your MRC lobby.

I would taking Digital Man's advice and upgrade from v3.19 to v3.20 when you get a chance.

And close ports 5000 and 5001. You neither need nor want those open to the outside.
