Subj : End of the shutdown? To : All From : Joseph Pereira Date : Mon Nov 10 2025 06:25:34 In the news this morning, the news announced that the shutdown in the US is almost over. Eight Democrats in the Senate reportedly support a compromise with the Republicans. This is a sensitive issue. In the past, deals haven't always been followed through fairly by the Republicans, and this time, too, there's a dangerous element of mutual trust. The eight Democrats, including Pelosi, who has already indicated she won't run for re-election, are agreeing to a proposal in which the Republicans promise to hold a vote on certain issues. In short, they're not making any concessions at all. They're not saying they agree with the Democrats' proposal; they're simply saying they'll make the vote possible. In a Senate where the majority is Republican... The eight Democrats who are now voting aren't bad people. They see that a segment of the American people is suffering under this Trump regime. They think they'll help those people by giving in now. However, I fear the suffering will only get worse. Their concession comes too soon and is far too weak. The Republicans will ultimately implement that entire disgusting Trump plan. Because of their concession, the Republicans can always claim in the future that it was a bipartisan decision to strip those people of their benefits. Because ultimately, that's what's going to happen. That's where things are headed as soon as Congress is back in session and the Republicans resume voting. . --- SBBSecho 3.31-Linux * Origin: End Of The Line BBS - endofthelinebbs.com (1:124/5016) .
