Agreed.

Also agreed.  What they often do now is hand them a phone or tablet rather
than attempt to entertain them via human interaction.  ;(

Agree, and I question whether or not that place is outside of the
workplace.  The persons putting it outside of professional settings are
part of the problem.  But there is money to be made so it is not going away.
