Subj : the offline way.. To : AUGUST ABOLINS From : Rob Mccart Date : Tue Aug 26 2025 08:46:08 Hello August! AA>At one point I was convinced that I would never consider a >text-based messaging system again. Instead, I was focusing on a >couple GUI-based Windows programs: Apoint and WinPoint. Apoint >has long since been abandonned, and Winpoint has emerged out of >a long quiet period to have been updated in the last 8 or so >years. I suppose this is a big part of the problem, so few people are involved in these old BBS type systems that software is rarely updated for it. Maybe as the Big Social sites get less popular they will make a bit of a comeback. Funny, thinking back, there were 6 or 7 BBS systems in town here but all limited to local users unless someone wanted to call in by (then) expensive long distance to access them, and most did not have many users. Then the Global BBS feeds came out where you could talk to people all over the world and it was amazing at the time. These days that wouldn't mean anything to most people. --- * SLMR Rob * For every action there is an equal and opposite criticism * Origin: capitolcityonline.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/HTTP (1:2320/105) .
