Wv> BTW: What are "nets" anyway? ;-) imagine you lived in alaska (or wherever might be fairly remote), and at a set schedule everyone got on their radio to say hi and prove they're alive.. or perhaps to pass along information, etc then imagine it got somewhat cumbersome with the number of people involved, so you had a "net control operator" that sort of guided the people checking in along so they didn't just transmit on top of each other i'd say that's sufficient to understand the concept. only mostly they just throw out their callsign ("check in"), say hi, perhaps answer some sort of question.
