Just unpicking the reasons behind the current designs is a much deeper rabbit-hole than I expected. Gating between "classic" FTN and the TITH stuff is also going to be very interesting. Right now I'm looking at both ends of the address space... as it exists today, the Zone is completely superfluous, and the routing implications of the domain are completely unclear... at the other end, points have always been a bit special and since they're local policy to a node, that means they're potentially up for grabs for IBBS games or other local services that use FTN but aren't "users", which really helps solve a trivial vulnerability where a user is created on the BBS with the same name as an IBBS game uses. --- þ Synchronet þ The future of BBSing .
