it doesn't really make a lot of sense.. gzip isn't really used that way except for edge cases

..tar.gz
  ^   ^---- compression - supports only one file
  `-------- archive of files, uncompressed

the edge case being generally like:

derp.log.gz
          ^---- compressing one file, a log

so for SBBS what would be the purpose? so you can view gzipped log files?
