There's an internet meme circulating basically a caption that says something along the lines of "When an intruder finally breaks into a gun owners home" and it shows a person in bed with a menacing grin on their face. I despise that meme. Any serious gun owner realizes that the use of the firearm to protect person and property is a regrettable last resort and nothing to smile about. Mother bought me my first gun (an Ithaca Model 66 in 20 gauge) when I was 14 years old. I was properly raised to respect firearms and to use them safely and responsibly. This is an education sadly lacking in the youth of today - and probably a significant reason why so many of them are involved in mass shooting incidents.... JA> ...
