Yes, but there are several differences. On a BBS, for example, you are a lot
less likely to have to wade through a bunch of advertisements for things that
don't interest you, or a bunch of AI generated "content," or a lot of
clickbait.

The quality of conversation, so long as you stay out of the politics echoes, isalso usually better.
