  Cool!! That sure brings back memories.

  I thought about getting the sound of the modem connecting, and
then lead into an announcement that "I'm working on the BBS"...but
telemarketers and others would think they had dialed a fax line;
yet it wouldn't connect when they tried to send a junk fax.

  When I ran a dial-up system, I used BGFAX with InterMail at the
front end, before loading the BBS. No telling how many junk faxes
came in...but the funny part was that they were all saved to files,
and no paper or ink was wasted. <G>
