Yeah dude, don't do that. The last one was way too long ago to build up anything more than what the original movie was. Unless you were expecting tons of CGI and crazy robot shooters running around. C'mon man, it's Beetlejuice, for cripes sake. The original wasn't anything phenominal, either, but it was funny!

Prime example, imagine a remake of "The Great Outdoors"... Hilarious for it's time. Now? We know what to expect.
