I am not going to point at specific othernets because everybody knows what I am talking about, but certain othernets are flexible regarding their rules. By this I mean they are echo chambers in which certain things are forbidden by the rules, but the rule is enforced only if it is a certain sort of person breaking it - if it is somebody who follows the party line everybody is ok with rules being pissed on.

Frankly I think general purpose forums work much better when they run Wild Wild West style. The only places that truly benefir from strict tight rule enforcement are topic focused places which are narrow in their scope and not supposed to stray away from it.
