Subj : Can't get anymore retro t To : Elmer Quinn From : Daryl Stout Date : Tue Sep 02 2025 17:30:43 Elmer, EQ> I remember Jolt Cola. I tried one and about 10 minutes later I EQ> thought I was going to have to go to the hospital! The effects EQ> lasted almost 2 hours on me. Whew what a bad ride. A few years ago, I was drinking a half gallon of diet green tea citrus a day...as a thirst quencher and a diuretic, to prevent kidney stones. Unfortunately, the caffeine in it shot my heart rate to 160, and put me in the hospital twice in 2 months. I ended up with atrial flutter, and ended up having to have a cardiac ablation done, but now I have congestive heart failure. However, I don't get short of breath when moving around, and my oxygen level ranges from 95 to 100%. When I went to the Shreveport, Louisiana area in early August for a ham radio event, the two fellow ham radio operators that I rode with, took us to David Beard's Catfish King in Bossier City. I must've swigged at least a pitcher of their freshly brewed sweetened iced tea...and I was glad I didn't check my heart rate or blood sugar after that!! . The thing is, if I only splurge on that once or twice a month, it's not going to hurt me too badly. My main beverage of choice is the low sugar powdered drink mix fruit punch flavor that I get from the local Kroger grocery store. Each box contains 6 packets that I mix with 2 quarts of water, and that's my beverage. They have low calories and no sugar, and it tastes better than just plain water (too bland for my taste). Or as the late W.C. Fields noted, "I don't drink water. Fish [have sex] in it". Daryl .... Have a Tex-Mex Emergency??
