The carcinogenic inhalants from.tobacco burning are not added, they are created by virtue of, well, burning. The process of vaporising these liquids only mobilises the liquid as a vapor, there is no chemical reaction taking place. And you're right in saying that directly inhaling the vapor from a device is quantitatively different to being around theatrical fog, however one would expect that occupational exposure to the stuff (say, actors and stage hands) would have exposed any issues by now. Not a conclusive observation by any means, but a.more useful one than a bare assertion like "I believe X is bad." We can investigate to prove/disprove the former.
