So you have no issue with the idea that OT God could tell us both to do
something and then would kill us *both* after you did what you were told but I
sat on my hands and did nothing?
 
I don't have that much faith in my fellow man so, with that in mind, I would
see that as messed up.  I would find it difficult to be motivated to do
anything if I knew I was going to die anyway.
