This is yet another reason not to get into a serious relationship these days. There is this tendency of the girl getting your dog during divorce and then putting him down as a form of revenge. This is no myth, I have had friends which suffered through versions of this.

A criminologist once said that this crap happens because the abuser does not believe you are credible threat. Ie. if everybody knows Arelor is a dangerous sociopath who will hang you with your own entrails if you dare looking at his horse in a funny way, then Arelor is very unlikely to need to ever prove his point. The issue I have is that this point of view does not lead to a stable society, specially when there is people who poses a credible threat but harassers are too blind to notice.

Harassment is very hard to get rid off these days. The winning move is not to play.
