I don't think the profession of software developer is going away any soon. Most AI generated code is kind of trashy, and I can't see it improving to production level anytime soon.

The real issue with these things is how costly are to operate. So, how costly it is to operate a datacenter for producing sub-productivity level code as compared to hiring a guy to code? That is the real question. I think at some point the datacenter will beat the coder. Today is not that day.
