The issue is how to remedy it without punishing those that are not involved
in perpetuating the prejudice.  Most of what our government will likely
come up with will likely involve "punishing" the general populace
(including the persons supposedly being remedied to) while doing very
little to any politicians or business leaders who are playing active roles
in these issues.

This in particular is really stupid.  Why bother?  It only costs money to
do what they are doing.  If they are famous and successful, they should be
celebrated as "American success stories" rather than actively suppressing
their memories.
