I don't know about the manufactured products, but I get a very bad feeling when I listen to old radio shows (think 1930) and compare their commercials with the ones we have now. The feeling you get when listening to a commercial or sponsored segment from back in the 30s or 40s is that whoever made it wanted to do a good job and also wanted to provide a service to the end user. They took much more care to explain what the product was, how it worked that sort of thing. Lots of business deals were considered a long term thing so they really tried to attract customers. There was a coal supply company that would do free maintenance on your chimney and stoves if you were a known customer. They also sent you a sample ton on request. Think of it. A sample ton of coal. Advertisements today are made for people with null attention spans and the idea is to get people to jump ship on impulses. -- gopher://gopher.richardfalken.com/1/richardfalken --- þ Synchronet þ Palantir BBS * palantirbbs.ddns.net * Pensacola, FL .
