My understanding is that he doesnƒ€™t want to be a literal king - and the Constitution wouldn't allow that even if he did. The presidency has limits, checks, and a built-in end date no matter who sits in the chair. As for third terms, I'm not saying I'd support changing the rules, but plenty of Obama supporters openly said they wished he could've run again too. That kind of 'wishful thinking' happens from both sides when people like their guy. Regarding the 'dictator' comments: he joked early on about making big changes "like a dictator" on day one - which is something every modern president does with executive orders.
