Apparently, since DOS filenames are 8.3, VMS filenames are something like 64.32, and Unix names don't really have a format, just a 20-40 char limit [forgot the #], DOSGifscii.EXE transfers to an MSDOS machine as 'DOSGIFSC.EXE'. I downloaded both the DOS and VAX versions. I would assume that the VAX version is for VMS, from the .EXE extension, but I just hope it was compiled under 5.x, or it won't run... [It's VERY, VERY stupid to distribute VAX/VMS .EXE files, they ARE version dependant. I can only run V5.0-5.5 linked images. If that was compiled under, say, 4.6, it wouldn't matter, but if it was LINKed under anything BUT 5.x, I can't run it... I hope a 5.x machine linked it...] I feel compelled to mention that the DOS vers. locked up 6 machines, with both GIF-87a and GIF-89a files.
