   The rec group is moderated, and the alt group is not.  The differences 
are whatever you perceive them to be.  I see them as being basically the 
same, with the rec group having less chatter, no off-topic stuff, and 
clearer subject IDs.  Also the moderator makes sure that color, 
animation, and software posts are uuencoded.
