Drawings for MONEY! Keywords: contest ascii logo Xref: nntp.gmd.de rec.arts.ascii:3683 alt.ascii-art:19279 Monday, January 23 Dear ASCII Artists, This is a repost of a letter that I sent on Saturday, January 21. I am the moderator and proprietor for two E-Mail lists. One of these lists services the University of Rochester, while the other caters to the needs of students in all of western New York state. These lists are being run by the local Hillel chapter at my school. Here is my proposition: I need to have an ASCII logo for each of my lists. Neither of them can be particularly large, but they should still be well-drawn and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. In this contest, people from the newsgroups to which I have posted will submit entries. I will judge each entry separately, that is, you can send me a drawing for one list and another entry for the other list. The prize consists of money, $10 to $12 for each winning entry. Although I cannot draw very well, I am a good critic, and I will give each piece its due consideration. The name of the list which serves Rochester students and faculty is UR-HILLEL, and the other has been titled, WNY-HILLEL. Hillel is a Jewish organization which helps to promote Jewish learning, culture, and religion on college campuses across the globe. Although it is primerily a social center for Jewish students, it is open to those of other religious affiliations who are interested in experiencing Judiaca. The logos should somehow represent the Jewish nature of the lists. BE CREATIVE!! Now, you may be wondering to yourselves: "This guy is going to have us spend our time, slaving over a computer keyboard or drafting board, in order that we may do his job for him! And, he's not going to award anybody the money!" This is far from the truth. It is true that I'm asking people to contribute in order that my job may be made a little easier. However, my employer, an administrator at the University of Rochester Hillel, has been notified of what I'm proposing to do, and he has given this contest venture his firm blessing of approval. Folks, this money is not coming out of my salary, and, therefore, I have little or no vested economic interest in keeping the $25 dollars. I need the job done, and you people seem to be exactly the right sort of people to do it! In addition, I'm not posting to this group anonymously; if I don't come through with what I've promised, I'm open to flaming, or worse! I need these logos as soon as possible, so send your entries quickly! Even if you don't see another of my posts during the forthcoming week, send your work. Each entry must have the complete name and E-Mail address of its author. Once the winning entries have been picked, I will contact, via E-Mail, the winner(s) and procure the appropriate mailing address(es) to which the check(s) will be sent. Thanks and Good Luck!!
