Hmm.  Do you mean the position is too square, or the shape is too
square?  Maybe a bit of both.

Reality check time.  A friend saw this picture and without being told
what it was, he said, "what is it, a dog?"

Well, I think the last one is marginally better than the original, but
the legs still aren't quite right.
