I like your other stylized lines , especially the light first one, which I think also fits in nicely with the style that the algorithmic tools use. I've used : to lighten lines , but didn't think of using ! , which is halfway between | and : Lighten the line work well when you can't exactly hit the angle with any of the characters. Then you can at least make that part less dominant. Another trick is to omit character all together like this : .---. ' ` | | . , `---' instead of _.---._ .' `. | | `._ _,' `---' The algorithmic tool currently draws a 11 x 5 ellipse like this : ,-----. / \ ( ) \ / `-----' You are welcome to help come up with better ideas for ellipses. My current unfinished ellipses look like this : 3 5 7 9 11 13 . ,-. ,---. ,-----. ,-------. ,---------. 3 ( ) ( ) ( ) ( ) ( ) ( ) ' `-' `---' `-----' `-------' `---------' . ,-. ,-. ,-. .---. .---. ,-----. : : ; : .' `. / \ ' ` ' ` ,' `. 5 | | | | | | ( ) | | | | ( ) : ; : ; `. ,' \ / . , . , `. ,' ' `-' `-' `-' `---' `---' `-----' ,-. _.---._ ' ` .' `. | | | | . , `._ _,' `-' `---' . . ,-. ,-. ,---. ,-----. : : / \ / \ ,' `. / \ / \ | | : : : : : : / \ / \ 7 | | | | | | | | ( ) ( ) | | : ; : ; : ; \ / \ / : ; \ / \ / `. ,' \ / \ / ' ' `-' `-' `---' `-----' . . ,-. ,-. ,---. .---. : : / \ : : / \ / \ ,' `. | | : : . . / \ / \ / \ | | | | : : : : ; : : : 9 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | : ; : ; : ; : ; | | : ; ` ' \ / \ / \ / : ; \ / : ; \ / \ / `. ,' ' ' `-' `-' `---' '---' . . . ,-. ,-. ,---. ; : / \ / \ / \ ,' `. / \ | | ; : / \ / \ ; : / \ | | | | ; : . . . . / \ | | | | | | : : ; : ; : 11 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | : : : ; : ; | | | | : ; ' ' ' ' \ / | | : ; \ / \ / : ; \ / : ; \ / \ / \ / `. ,' \ / ' ' ' `-' `-' `---' . . . ,-. ,-. ,---. ; : ; : / \ / \ / \ / \ | | . . / \ ; : / \ / \ | | ; : ; : ; : / \ / \ 13 | | | | | | ; : ; : ; : | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | : ; : ; : ; | | : ; : ; : ; \ / \ / | | ' ' \ / : ; \ / \ / : ; : ; \ / \ / \ / \ / ' ' ' `-' `-' `---' I started by use Jave to draw the ellipses and then I'm slowly reworking them to be more round like ellipses and less like hexagons
