I'm work as an IT-consultant and I'm currently doing software testing for Cisco.
My boss tells me the same thing. I have the highest number of feature requests of the 
testers in the QA dept. :)

It sounds like you want to use the editable area to preview in.
I was suggesting two textareas .. one to edit in and one with a preview.

It does.
I thought it did something else.

Why not call the buttons Save and Open ?
That would make it easier to understand what the buttons do I think.

I'm on it.

Though looking at it I still think it's possible to make some algorithm improvements.

For example when you go

.. the ; should be a :

Only use ; if the line/shape continues to the south west and there are no characters in S 
or SE

The same applies to ,

The characters , ; and ` slants diagonally and are best used for diagonal lines.
