:) yes I have seen spelled both ways many times. A word with its orgins
in latin from altare, and middle english, alter an altar. Something
that may confuse it even more, alter Christus -- meaning another christ.

English :) such a miswritten language with all its words that sound
so much alike yet means somthing differant. A few below that I see
sometimes too
