This is my first time visiting this group. I have enjoyed reading several of the posts here, so I thought I would introduce myself and invite you to visit my site, Arbitrary Design. My name is Robert and I am a 36 year old sculptor and designer. I currently live near Baltimore, Maryland, USA with my new wife and a cat that may be the Anti-Christ. I have been sculpting for 14 years and I work in a variety of media, including bronze, steel, pewter, wood, ceramics, plastics, wrought iron, silver, stone and found objects. I also do some photography, drawing, furniture, jewelry, web design and graphics. My style is all over the place, ranging from classical to contemporary, figurative to abstract and surreal to kinetic. Thus the name, Arbitrary Design. Currently, I am working on a commission for a bronze Gargoyle, 2 kinetic pieces made from Corian and brass, a large futuristic knife with a bronze handle... and there are always 10-20 half-finished clay figures lying around. I frequently display my work in various galleries, craft fairs, street fairs, science fiction and fantasy convention art shows, as well as on my site. I have received several awards, and recently I designed and built 4 large steel mobiles for the film John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars. In spite of this, I am still the poster child for the "starving artist" stereotype... it's a good thing my wife loves me so much! If you are interested in seeing examples of my work, please visit my web site at: http://www.arbitrarydesign.com . The site is presented in a Flash animated format and is graphically intensive, with an average page size of 172kb. It may take a few moments to load on a dial-up modem, but I hope you will find it worth the wait. I have spent the better part of a year learning the programs (Swish, RealDraw Pro, Photoshop, etc.) and developing the site, and I hope you will find it enjoyable. If you have any questions, comments or commissions (hint hint), please feel free to email me or respond directly to this post. I look forward to your feedback. Cheers!
