I did feel shuned, and some what bashed after my first post, that's what got my fire started. But if you look back.. A. I never posted ascii containing extended ascii chars. B. To get REAL technical, goto www.google.com and type up Extended Ascii Set Searched the web for extended ascii set. Results 11 - 20 of about 340,000. Search took 0.11 seconds. wow..not a bad turn out... here's some text I pulled from just one of those pages.. The standard ASCII character set uses just 7 bits for each character. There are several larger character sets that use 8 bits, which gives them 128 additional characters. The extra characters are used to represent non-English characters, graphics symbols, and mathematical symbols. Several companies and organizations have proposed extensions for these 128 characters. The DOS operating system uses a superset of ASCII called extended ASCII or high ASCII. A more universal standard is the ISO Latin 1 set of characters, which is used by many operating systems, as well as Web browsers. If you recall I did state "Extended ASCII" was used in mine an others graphics. So chars 128-255 could be considerd extended or high ASCII or ANSI. The preception of art is in the veiwers mind, altough some art may be considerd ANSI by some and not pure ascii, another may consider it ascii using the extended ascii set. Just because "our" reprensentation of each art form may not conform to one's veiw of the Technical aspect, it may to another. "We" consider ANSI graphics using the block set of the extended ascii chart ( you would call the ansi chart ).. and also includes ANSI color codes. Then we break down into OldSchool, NewSchool and the newly founded (due to the recent fall in ANSI art groups) Block Ascii Old school contains underscores and slahes etc to build the image, typically a font. New school is normaly done containing dollar signs for the main fill and other chars, more likely then not, the extended ascii or "ansi" char set for shaping and Block ascii is a colorless version of ANSI To really get down to the nitty gritty we consider ascii art containing color to be "Anscii" meaing of course it's our representation of ascii art including ansi color codes.. All in all the bottom line is no ones right no ones wrong, I feel I HAVE NOT represented my group in an incorrect way, cause technically I haven't. I have been accussed of ALOT since my first post and to be honest the only correct thing was the simple fact I did get alil hot under the collar and was a slight asshole. This of course only after I was made to feel VERY unwelcome and unconfortable. On a side note the issue with the webpages.I do not build design or host these pages, then are ran by others in the art groups. I never stated Acids webpage as an ascii page, but as a portal to download our art packs. The remorse page is however now being handed over to me (the actually "ascii" groups page under acid) and I would be more then happy to make a compatable re-direct in "pure ascii" for non-standerd browsers.. But over all the simple fact is, it is 2002 there are Plenty of web browsers for every platform of OS out there. The demand, existence and availability/idealoligy of a pure ascii compatable web page is extinct. So in closing, I would like to say sorry for flaming, but I will not appologize for "confusing" ansi with ascii, cause that has not been done, I clearly stated the use of extended ascii, and depending on who you ask (like I said) it can be called ANSI or extended ascii. Me myself preceiving ANSI more to be graphics including actually ANSI escape codes, color codes etc. (reminds me of the old days ANSI bombs/keyboard remapping thru ansi etc) And looking back, I never once posted my graphics, so the only rule I broke in the news group would be flaming, but to be honest, I think anyone would have been alittle upset with the treatment that was given to me since day one/post one. So let's move past eh "I think it's ansi, I think it's ascii" it's both and it's neither.. Let's move on to sharing and working together and drawing more art and exploring each others side of this tangled web. Thanks everyone..chat with you guys soon =) Palmore-Remorse^81^ascii-
