The head my not have much in the way of food value but the skull makes a very nice decorative item, especially for those in the goth scene. It takes about 2 hours if the body is still warm but with a good sharp knife and some patience you can remove all the meat from the skull. Don't bother to remove the eyes as they are easier to remove once the next step is complete. Drop it into some boiling water for about 30 minutes. This will cook any of the meat left on the skull (it never wants to come all the way off when raw) and you can scrape the large bits off. The brains are best removed with some kind of scooping utensil that can fit in the tiny little hole that the spinal cord leave behind when you remove it. Now you can either boil it again and call it a day or you can go with the slower and better way which is to leave the skull outside in a safe place where the ants will find it and finish the job for you. That takes about a week to two months depending on the ant population and the weather. If you do go that way make sure you boil it one more time to remove any eggs that some bug might have laid in it. Now put it on your book case and wait for friends to come over.
